As part of our Networks Division Airband are now recruiting a Senior Network Architect.

This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary + benefits - Airband offer a Hybrid working model operating out of Droitwich.

The role offers responsibility for the overarching design and strategy of the Airband Customer and Corporate Networks. Reporting to the Head of Networks, you will deal with all elements within networks including:

Accountability for all design documentation and choices used to expand and improve the Airband Networks. Also tasked with maintaining as well as assisting with network strategy and technological development, remaining accountable for all elements related to Network Architecture. A great opportunity to work closely with other Central teams as well as regional build programme and projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing and improving elements including:
  • Network Wide Diagrams (Visio and Topological), ensuring Programme and Project teams are aware of strategy and design and to assist those team find suitable methods of connectivity for success.
  • Producing network designs, diagrams and patterns to meet business needs and following current standards.
  • Reviewing, maintaining, and improving network standards to ensure they continue to meet best practice guidelines and to ensure each is fully documented and available for others to make use of
  • Keeping up to date on networking trends and developments and identifying how they could benefit the company.
  • Analysing network products and technologies and making recommendations to influence technical direction.
  • Is result oriented and has a high degree of accountability, commitment and responsibility. The expectation is that involving an architect in a project is a guarantee of obtaining positive outcomes.
  • Working with the Network team to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Involved in ensuring the Project teams understand the impact of network constraints and provide recommendations to ensure successful deployments.
  • Contribute to the network strategy.
  • Ongoing documentation creation and update including handover to operational teams.
  • Defining and Providing Internal and External Technical training sessions to other departments.
  • Interface with Service Operations department as and when needed.
  • Working closely with other departments to understand their reporting, management and monitoring requirements and either adapting existing services or creating new.
  • Flexible Working mostly remote with the occasional need for office visit for team meetings and some out of hours working required from time to time.

What are we looking for?

Essential:

Extensive Experience with ISP or Service Provider Networks.

In depth knowledge of Visio along with any other architecture centric software

Experience with creating HLD, LLD and Work Instructions and with taking business requirements and converting those into technical requirements.

Must be familiar with mapping tools such as QGIS, Google Earth (KMZ), Weezie Fibrecloud etc.

Desirable:

Network Engineering Experience

Knowledge of optical network technologies including PON, CWDM, DWDM

Experience with a variety of Wired and Wireless Network Vendors
